L.I.F.E. Program (Leisure Involvement For Everyone)

Saanich's version of the regional L.I.F.E. program. Approval lasts two years and you pick one of two benefit options.

What it is

Approved clients choose between two options. Under the free-drop-ins-and-discounts option you get unlimited free drop-in sessions at Saanich facilities, swiping your pass every visit, plus 52 free drop-in sessions a year at participating Greater Victoria regional recreation centres including Panorama, West Shore, City of Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt and SEAPARC — you must carry the regional 52-visit sticker, renewed each calendar year, and you do not get unlimited visits at those other centres. Grants for use at Saanich centres are $80 for adults 19 to 59, $80 for adults 60 and over, $120 for youth 13 to 18 and $120 for children 5 to 12. Adults 60 and over also get a free annual membership to one of the Silver Threads Les Passmore Centre, the Cordova Bay 55+ Association or the Goward House Society. Adults and youth also receive a free weight room orientation, and youth get two free weeks of Breakout Adventures Camps plus two free youth workshops or events across the two-year term. There may be some additional funds for children and youth after the initial grant is used, but they are not guaranteed.

Who it is for

Approval is valid for two years from the date of approval, and the grant amounts below are for that whole two-year term — there are no further funds once the initial grant is used. Saanich only accepts CRA Proof of Income Statements, not Notices of Assessment. Allow at least 5 days between approval and registering, because grants take up to 5 days to appear on your account.
