Disability Parking Placard
A placard that lets you use accessible parking spaces.
What it is
A permit that lets you park in designated accessible spaces. Blue placards are for long-term disabilities (valid 5 years); red placards are for temporary ones (3–12 months).
Who it is for
For people who can't walk more than about 50 metres, or whose vision loss makes moving around parking areas unsafe.

How to apply
- Get the application form and have a medical practitioner complete their section.
- Take it to any registry agent (e.g. an AMA centre).

- Application form with the medical section completed
- Government-issued ID
Practical tips
- You don't need to own a vehicle — the placard belongs to you, not a car.
- The medical section can be completed by a physician, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or chiropractor.
