Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES)
Pays for supports that help you get or keep a job, or finish training — assistive devices, tutoring, coaching, workplace tools.
What it is
Funding for the specific supports you need to overcome disability-related barriers to work or training — assistive technology, tutoring, interpreters, coaching, exam accommodations, even some vehicle or workplace modifications.
Who it is for
Does NOT require the DTC and is very flexible — can fund coaching, focus/organization tools, and training supports. Start at an Alberta Supports Centre.
Amount or value
Funding for assistive tech, coaching, training & workplace supports
How to apply
- Contact your nearest Alberta Supports Centre.
- Complete an employability assessment with a worker.
- Together you build a service plan listing the supports DRES will fund.
What you may need
- Documentation of a permanent/chronic disability that affects work or training
- Proof you're legally entitled to work in Canada
Practical tips
- No DTC needed — this is one of the easiest supports to access with an ADHD, learning, or mental-health diagnosis.
- Be specific about the barrier and the tool that would fix it (e.g. 'text-to-speech software for reports').
Timing
Assessment-based.
