Financial Assistance for Recreation (FAR)
Coquitlam gives each eligible family member their own 50 drop-in passes and their own $225 credit toward City admissions, passes and programs.
What it is
Total family income means the combined before-tax income of all family members in Canada and abroad who contribute to household income and expenses, including employment of all types, investments, pensions, child support and foster child support, rental revenue, funds in trust, disability benefits, workers' compensation and foreign income. The City accepts redacted documents — you may black out a driver's licence number, a social insurance number or a bank account number before submitting.
Who it is for
You can verify income four different ways: a CRA Income Statement (the Option C print, not a Notice of Assessment) for each family member who contributes to household income; OR the main applicant's proof of government assistance; OR the main applicant's proof of receiving a red Compass Card; OR a completed adjudicator or agency signature section on the application. You also need proof of Coquitlam residency dated within two months. The red Compass Card route is worth calling out — it is the same card BC transit concession holders already carry.
