FAIR Play Program
Burnaby gives every eligible family member a recreation credit AND a free annual Be Active Pass — the pass is on top of the credit, not paid for out of it.
What it is
Each eligible family member receives a Be Active Pass, and the dollar credit is in addition to it — you do not need to spend the credit to get a pass. The credit is $250 per person, or $500 for children up to the age of 14. It can be used for activity registrations and also for non-Be Active passes, a Seniors' membership, a Burnaby Village Museum membership, skate and helmet rentals, and childminding. It cannot be used for golf, personal training, birthday parties, drop-in admissions, or merchandise other than supplies required for a registered activity. Burnaby Community Services can help with translation, gathering documents and completing the application.
Who it is for
You can apply once a year and the credit is valid for a year. Unused credit is removed when it expires and has no cash value. The FAIR Play Program replaced the older Recreation Credit Program on March 1, 2024.
