Optical Supplements (Glasses & Eye Exams)

What it is

Everyone receiving income or disability assistance gets specified optical services: routine eye exams for adults ($44.83 with an optometrist or $48.90 with an ophthalmologist every two years), new eyeglasses up to ministry maximum rates, lens replacement when a prescription changes, and repairs to frames and lenses. Payment goes straight from the ministry to the optometrist or optician.

Who it is for

Children's routine eye exams are already covered by MSP — the supplement pays for their glasses. Costs above the ministry's fee schedule are your responsibility, so ask the clinic first.
