Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment – Students with Disabilities

What it is

This grant pays for the specific services and equipment you need because of your disability while studying — things like notetakers, tutors, interpreters, assistive software and other technical aids. It is non-repayable and is assessed through your StudentAid BC application after your disability status is verified.

Who it is for

This grant is on top of the $2,800 Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities. If you use up the full $20,000 and still have costs, the B.C. Assistance Program for Students with Disabilities can add up to $10,000-$12,000 more.

How to apply

1. Complete a StudentAid BC application and get your disability status verified (Disability Verification Form from a qualified medical assessor).
2. Work with your school's accessibility services office to identify the services and equipment you need.
3. Submit the services-and-equipment request with cost details through StudentAid BC.
4. Funding decisions are posted to your StudentAid BC account.
